Thai Boxing is considered as national sport in Thailand. Many small training clubs (called “camps”) are dotted around the country and welcome the youth from the age of 7. Important fights are regularly broadcasted every Saturday and Sunday by regional TV channels.
If you wish to attend Muay Thai fight in Phuket, you can go to Patong where fighting take place every evening.

The show starts at 20.30pm. First you see kids and teens boxing and then professional boxers enter the ring. 7 fights take place in low season and 9 in high season. Snacks are available on site and you can also have dinner at the restaurant situated at the stadium entrance.
More than a fighting style, Muay Thai is an art and before every fight, boxers devote themselves to a ritual dance called ram-muay. During this dance, the nak-muay (boxer) wears the mongkon (a cloth strip around the head to represent Thai tradition).
